Your story: On May 19 I will be doing a training during teachers' prep periods on advanced database tips and techniques. I;ve invited Lisa Rabin of EBSCO to come help do the presentations and she will be there for two of the four periods I plan on doing the training. I will mainly be discussing EBSCO databases including MAS Ultra, AP Source, Professional Resources and NoveList. I will demonstrate setting up RSS feeds for specific periodicals and searches in the EBSCO databases as well as showing some of the advanced search features and how the records in our library catalog are connected to specific periodicals and books in the databases. I will also be showing a short video provided by QuestiaSchool which provides an overview of the teacher tools in that database.
Many of our teachers use our library databases frequently and are pretty comfortable with them. This day will give me a chance to check in with them and enable them to play around with some aspects of the databases they may not have had a chance to play with before. Our assistant superintendent for curriculum ahs expressed an interest in being there for one of the periods. I'm looking forward to this day.
