Your story:
Each year, I participate in a wide variety of professional development workshops for teachers. New teachers work with me on the role the school library plays in student learning, which includes explorations of information and communication technologies, differentiated instruction, and collaboration with the teacher librarian.
I am a member of the district staff development planning committee, and I regularly emphasize the importance of literacy and the need to use technology to enhance learning. This year, I led a staff development for our school focused on pre-reading strategies.
Participation on staff development committees has helped me communicate the role the school library plays in students’ achievement. My own staff development always includes a component that includes ways the library program contributes to academic initiatives on our campus.
